Alleged domestic violence: Seun Kuti denies assaulting his wife.
Seun Kuti, an Afrobeats musician, has finally responded to claims that he physically and verbally abuses his wife.
After her husband was heard yelling at her during his argument with a police officer in a viral video, there were rumours that Kuti’s wife could be a victim of domestic abuse.
Reacting during his recent Instagram live session with fans, Kuti said his wife is not scared of him, rather he is the one who is scared of her.
He said people who were exonerated with his family were able to testify to such.
The singer said, “The most important rumour I must dispel, is the one they said that I’m beating my wife. They said I screamed at her to get into the car [in the viral video] and she went into the car…That she is scared of me. My wife is not scared of me. Trust me, if you know anybody that knows us, I’m the one that’s scared of my wife. But my wife respects me.
“And I know that many of you Nigerian men were just jealous to see a man that can talk to his wife and his wife would listen. That’s the problem. It’s jealousy.”
He continued by saying that he has never even beaten his daughter, who is 9 years old.

Additionally, Seun Kuti has recounted his time in prison as he narrates the unfortunate ordeal he was subjected to.
The singer who was in Zurich, Switzerland to kick off his Europe tour revealed how he slept on the cold floor in Police custody.
Despite this, the singer stated he still prefers to be in the company of prisoners than to be in the company of politicians.
In his words, “Dem put me for hard cold floor, in the midst of prisoners still better than sitting in the devils house with politicians.”
Recall that the singer was charged to court by the Nigerian Police Force for physically assaulting an officer in uniform on the third mainland bridge some weeks back.
