Senate President Godswill Akpabio welcomed award-winning Nigerian superstar Davido to his office in Abuja on May 20, 2024.
During their meeting, Senate President Akpabio commended Davido for his contributions to Nigeria’s reputation on the global stage, praising the artist for his achievements and representing the country with distinction.
Additionally, he reiterated his unwavering support for the Nigerian entertainment industry, underscoring its importance and promising continued backing.
“You have made us very proud within the International community and we will do everything possible to support the entertainment industry,” Akpabio said.
The President of the 10th Senate also emphasized the importance of support from the creative industry for the success of the government’s initiatives. He urged stakeholders in the creative sector to collaborate with the government, recognizing their valuable contributions to national development and highlighting the significance of partnership in achieving shared goals.
“For us in the political arena, we value talents…We do everything possible to support the industry. To support talented people like you. All we need also is patience and prayers so that we can succeed.”
Senator Akpabio also appreciated Davido’s decision to avoid getting involved in politics and to insist on bipartisan leadership.
“For me and for the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, it’s an inclusive administration, and you must have noticed in my various outings, we move as one, across party lines,” Akpabio said to Davido whose uncle Ademola Adeleke is the Governor of Osun State and a member of the PDP.
In return, Davido expressed his gratitude to the Senate President for hosting him. The Grammy-nominated star highlighted his contributions to society, particularly through his foundation, We Rise By Lifting Others, which annually distributes 400 million naira to orphanages across the country.
