Wondermind was created by Gomez, her mother, Mandy Teefy, and media executive Daniella Pierson. By providing expert assistance, the initiative aimed to democratise and de-stigmatise mental fitness.
Gomez, who recently launched her mental health platform Wondermind, told Good Morning America that she had avoided the internet for over four years to safeguard her mental health.
The actress stated that distancing herself from social media helped her feel “normal” and made a significant mental improvement.
She said:
“Growing up in the spotlight has definitely taught me so much, I can’t believe I am where I am mentally just because of how I took the necessary steps in order to kind of remove myself from that because it’s just not normal.”
“I haven’t been on the internet in four and a half years, it has changed my life completely. I am happier, I am more present, I connect more with people. It makes me feel normal.”
