Didier Deschamps reveals his opinion on Gareth Southgate.
Didier Deschamps believes that Gareth Southgate has done a fantastic job leading England and that he is not given enough credit in his native France.
Only Deschamps‘ France team stands in Southgate’s way of leading England into the semifinals of their third straight championship.
The former defender has led England to their best results in a long time, becoming the first manager in the twenty-first century to lead them through the World Cup quarterfinals and on to the Euro 2020 championship game.

Despite this, Southgate is not a household name among English fans, with some dissatisfied with the outcomes since the Euros and believing that his brand of football is frequently too conservative.
Deschamps has personally been impressed but thinks he appreciates Southgate more than the fans do.
“I very much like Gareth,” he said.
“We have met on a number of occasions and have talked about a number of things. He had a long and distinguished career and he is also a very good coach. He has enabled England to get some very good results over the years. “If I am understood correctly, not everyone appreciates him so much in his own country.”
