As the highly anticipated Met Gala approaches today, Monday, May 6, 2024, fans are buzzing with excitement over the speculated guest list and key details of this year’s event.
The theme of the 2024 Met Gala revolves around the Costume Institute’s latest exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” Contrary to a Disney princess reinterpretation, the focus lies on delicate garments deemed too fragile for regular wear, known as “sleeping beauties” within the museum’s archives.
Head curator Andrew Bolton describes the exhibition as an homage to nature and the emotional narrative of fashion, with three distinct zones representing Earth’s elements: land, sea, and sky.
Vogue tradition continues with a select group of hosts, including Gwendoline Christie, LaLa Anthony, Ashley Graham, and Emma Chamberlain, who will lead the red carpet and social media coverage during the event.
Among the star-studded guest list for the Met Gala 2024 are Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Bad Bunny, Doja Cat, Dua Lipa, Jack Harlow, Jaden Smith, Jon Batiste, Sabrina Carpenter, and Ivy Getty.
