Veteran Nigerian producer Samklef has taken fans down memory lane, recounting how Tease Me, one of Wizkid’s early career-defining songs, was created during their very first studio session together.

In a recent video making the rounds online, Samklef revealed that Wizkid arrived at the studio with a clear vision of the sound he wanted. According to the producer, the singer was already certain about the direction of the record before any beat was made.
“He said he wanted an old-school reggae feel, and I wanted something really sweet,” Samklef said.
That clarity, he explained, sparked instant inspiration. As soon as Wizkid shared his idea, the melody and lyrics began to flow almost effortlessly.
“Something came to my mind and that was how… ‘Baby, I love the way you whine it.’ That was the first verse done,” he recalled.
While the opening verse came easily, the second verse took a bit more effort. Samklef said he decided to bring in Banky W to help complete the song, reaching out to him for support.
“I called him, and he said ‘okay, okay,’” Samklef added.
The collaboration eventually produced Tease Me, which went on to become one of Wizkid’s biggest records from his debut album, Superstar, released in 2011. The song played a major role in introducing Wizkid to a wider audience and cementing his place in Nigeria’s pop scene at the time.
Looking back, Samklef noted that he felt an immediate creative connection with Wizkid during that first session, praising the singer’s energy, confidence, and clear artistic vision — qualities that would later define his rise to global stardom.
How Wizkid and I made Tease Me
It was my 1st ever studio session and my first time meeting Wizkid.
And this was exactly how we made Tease Me.He already knew the kind of sound he wanted.
