Manchester United confirm Ruud van Nistelrooy after interim manager spell
Ruud van Nistelrooy will not be part of Ruben Amorim’s coaching staff at Manchester United, following his departure from the club after a brief stint as interim manager.
The Dutch legend was called upon to step into the Old Trafford dugout after Erik ten Hag’s dismissal due to a string of disappointing results. Van Nistelrooy managed to steady the ship, securing three wins and a draw in his four matches in charge. However, with Ruben Amorim officially appointed as Ten Hag’s successor earlier this month, the 39-year-old will begin his role after the November international break.
Despite Van Nistelrooy’s successful interim tenure, he has not been included in Amorim’s backroom team. Manchester United confirmed his departure in an official statement, which read: “Manchester United can confirm that Ruud van Nistelrooy has left the club. Ruud rejoined in the summer and has taken charge of the team for the past four matches as interim head coach. Ruud is, and always will be, a Manchester United legend.”
The statement also expressed gratitude for Van Nistelrooy’s contributions during his short time back at the club: “We are grateful for his contribution and the way in which he has approached his role throughout his time with the club. He will always be very welcome at Old Trafford.”
In addition to Van Nistelrooy’s departure, Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and Pieter Morel will also leave their coaching roles, with the club wishing them all the best for the future.
Manchester United further stated that the full details of the men’s first-team coaching staff will be confirmed at a later date.
