Ruger thanks Wizkid and FC for supporting his music
Nigerian singer Ruger has extended profound gratitude to Afrobeats superstar Wizkid and his loyal fan base, Wizkid FC, for their exceptional support in elevating his music career.
During a recent interview with Naija FM, Ruger recounted his extraordinary experience collaborating with Wizkid, describing him as one of the most impactful figures in the Nigerian music industry.
The singer, often referred to by his fans as “Mini Idolo,” revealed an astonishing milestone achieved under unique circumstances.
Ruger shared that his song ‘Toma Toma‘ (featuring Tiwa Savage) recorded its biggest first-day streams on the day Wizkid launched his highly anticipated project, ‘More Love, Less Ego.’ Typically, releasing music alongside a global icon like Wizkid would be considered risky, but Ruger defied the odds.
He attributed this remarkable feat to Wizkid FC, who not only streamed Wizkid’s album but also showed immense support for ‘Toma Toma.’ Ruger disclosed that Wizkid had encouraged his fan base to support his song, a gesture that led to a significant surge in streams for the track.
“Wizkid told his fans to support my music, and they streamed both his project and my song. This is something I’ll forever be grateful for,” Ruger said during the interview.
The timing of Ruger’s release could have posed a challenge, but the overwhelming support from Wizkid’s fans turned it into a defining moment in his career.
Ruger’s success story stands as a testament to the influence of collaboration and camaraderie within the Nigerian music industry.
