Ruger breaks record as he tops the Nigeria Apple Music chart at #1 for one consecutive month
With incredible accomplishments and records, Ruger without a doubt ruled the entire 2022 in the Nigerian music industry as evidenced by his hold over the No 1 spot on Nigeria Apple Music chart for a full month.
Beginning with just securing a record deal with D’Prince’s “Jonzing world record company in 2021, the singer went on to experience a spectacular rise with a phenomenal spectrum of artistic ability, churning out top-charting songs and projects.
The sweet-voiced and melodious tune “Dior” from his body of work, “The Second Wave” EP, peaked at number one on the fiercely competitive Nigerian Apple Music Top Songs chart and iTunes, respectively, at the beginning of the year.
Dior is a blend of reggae, dancehall patois and pidgin which infuse the modern and confrontational flavour of Afro-dancehall.

On 16 November 2022, Ruger returns with a new chest-thumping tune capsule, consisting of two songs titled ‘Red Flags’ & Asiwaju, which upon release trended on every social media platform.
Asiwaju peaked at number 1 on Nigeria Apple Music Top Songs chart and spent a record-breaking one month consecutively in the history of the chart.
Ruger in a viral post shared on his page, thanked his fans and everybody who has streamed and listened to songs Asiwaju and Red Flags as he says he is grateful to them.
He wrote;
“Been NUMBER 1 for 1 MONTH now and I’m so grateful ????????. Started the year with DIOR as the number 1 song in the country, caused a lot of damage to your waistlines with GIRLFRIEND in the middle of the year, with WEWE also doing its own bits, Ended the year with ASIWAJU and RED FLAGS ????. I owe it all to GOD, my team and my STREAMING FANS ????????. Next year will be a more amazing year for me and my fans I promise you. I’m going in with full madness. Thank you ???????? and I LOVE YOU ????❤️

Ruger has also swept some of the major awards, including the Best New act in Africa at the 2022 prestigious Afrima awards.
