Ruben Neves: Al-Hilal agree £45m fee for Wolves midfielder.
According to reports, Wolves and Saudi Arabian team Al-Hilal have reached an agreement for the sale of midfielder Ruben Neves.
The 26-year-old’s contract will expire this summer, and he has made it clear that he is willing to leave Wolves, who have accepted a deal to sell Neves to Al-Hilal that is estimated to be worth £45 million.
Neves has received a sizable contract offer from Al-Hilal, which Jorge Mendes, the player’s agent, has authorized. Sources have told 90min that Neves is currently considering his options.
Barcelona has looked at signing Neves since the midfielder has never concealed his ambition to play in the Champions League. Although personal agreements had been reached with Mendes, the La Liga champions have not yet pursued their interest due to other transfer priorities.
Because of this, Neves is now a target for Al-Hilal, who, according to reports, are confident they have already finalized his signing.
Although there is rumoured to be Premier League interest in Neves, unlike Barcelona, no English teams are prioritizing signing the Portugal international.
Although Mendes has made it plain to Al-Hilal that a transfer to Saudi Arabia is the most likely outcome, Wolves have not yet given up on trying to keep Neves. This is especially true given their concerns about complying with Financial Fair Play requirements, which have forced them to raise money.
If Al-Hilal closes the deal, the Saudi Pro League would have a very different strategy.
Officials have been primarily concentrating on free agents or aging players up to this point, but a big-money transfer for a 26-year-old will undoubtedly cause a stir throughout Europe.
