Emotional Romeo Lavia breaks silence on huge Chelsea injury setback
Romeo Lavia, devastated by yet another significant injury setback, has conveyed an emotional message to Chelsea fans after being sidelined for the remainder of the season. The 20-year-old midfielder, who joined the club from Southampton for £58 million last summer, has been limited to just one appearance.
In his heartfelt message, Lavia expressed his gratitude to the Chelsea faithful for their unwavering support despite his limited time on the pitch. He acknowledged the challenges he has faced with injuries and vowed to come back stronger, determined to make a meaningful impact for the club in the future.
“Hi Chelsea family. As you may know and despite my countless efforts, I will be missing the remainder of the season,” he wrote on Instagram. “This has been a frustrating season for me, not being able to help my teammates.
“I love this squad, this badge and being on the pitch more than anything. Trust that I have given my all everyday to get back. Thank you for the love, support and critics because they all affect me positively and keep me going.
“Can’t wait to give it back and share many special moments together [blue heart emoji] See you soon.”

Chelsea confirmed that Lavia would be limited to just half-an-hour on the pitch this season in a statement released on Wednesday. “Midfielder Romeo Lavia is to unfortunately miss the remainder of our 2023-24 campaign following a setback in his recovery,” it reads.
“Recent medical assessments have confirmed that Lavia, who sustained a significant thigh injury against Crystal Palace back in December, will not feature again this season.”
