Rihanna Praises Tems For Her Role in Their New Collab ‘Lift Me Up’

Rihanna expresses gratitude to Tems for her effort on “Lift Me Up.”
Temilade Openiyi, better known by her stage as Tems, received well-deserved praise from American icon Rihanna for her contribution to their latest project.
The new-age worldwide star’s rapid ascent to the top of the international music industry continues, and her newest achievement is being listed as a songwriter on the Rihanna song “Lift Me Up” for the Black Panther movie.
Tems collaborated on the song’s composition with Rihanna, Oscar winner Ludwig Gorranson, Ryan Coogler, and other notable writers.
The song will serve as the theme song for the mega-hit “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” film from Marvel. On October 28, 2022, the song—which was written as a homage to Chadwick Boseman’s life and work—was made public.

The excited Tems took to her Instagram page on Friday, October 28th, 2022, to speak of how grateful she was to have written the song. She wrote:
Blessed to have written this song in honour of Chadwick Boseman and even more blessed to hear the baddest @badgalriri voice it to perfection????✨
In response to her post, Rihanna lauded Tems for her pen game on the song. She wrote:
It’s the pen for me ????????❤️???????? love to you sistren
Recall that talking about her work on the song, Tems said in a statement;
“After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them.”
“Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honor,” she added.
