Rihanna On The Cover Of ‘Vogue China’ Ahead Of Fenty Beauty Expansion: “This Is The Beauty Of Makeup”
Rihanna is gearing up to extend her Fenty Beauty empire into China next month, marking a significant expansion for the company. Prior to the overseas launch, the music and cosmetics mogul graced the cover of Vogue China’s April issue.
Several Instagram photos shared by the publication today (March 26) offered glimpses of their interview with Rihanna. In these excerpts, Rihanna delved into various topics, including her perspective on individuality, cultural identity, and the journey of finding confidence through motherhood.
“Personal interpretation: This is the beauty of makeup. These [products] are just the tools we give people to express their personal creativity, whatever their mood, whatever they want to convey,” Rihanna shared. “It’s fun, and that’s how it should be… It feels special to be recognized by professional makeup artists, artists, and [the] people.”
Discussing the significance of braids as a means of self-expression and their importance to various ethnic groups, the “Needed Me” singer explained, “This is a form of protection of our roots and a tradition left by our ancestors… [It] makes us realize where we’ve come from. This is our lost history. I immediately wanted my children to have their hair braided… It’s something in our blood.”

Rihanna’s makeup looks for Vogue China were exclusively crafted using Fenty Beauty products, showcasing the brand’s versatility and quality. Renowned makeup artist Priscilla Ono utilized Fenty Beauty’s Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation, We’re Even Hydrating Longwear Concealer, and Match Stix Contour Skinstick, among other popular items.
The expansion of Fenty Beauty into the Chinese market comes on the heels of its recent launch in India through Nykaa earlier this month. Coincidentally, the debut aligned with Rihanna’s performance at the pre-wedding festivities of Anant Ambani, the youngest son of the prominent multi-billionaire Mukesh Ambani, and Radhika Merchant, one of India’s wealthiest couples.
In the realm of music, it’s been over eight years since Rihanna released her last album, ANTI. Despite the prolonged hiatus, anticipation for her forthcoming album remains as high as ever. In February, ASAP Rocky provided fans with an update on the album’s progress, stating, “She’s working on it,” fueling excitement among Rihanna’s devoted fanbase.
