    Renowned Nigerian rapper Khalid Safaru, widely recognized as Reminisce, has candidly revealed that he and his wife engage in an unspoken competition over who gets to take their children to various activities. He expressed his desire to be more actively involved in their upbringing, as going out with their kids draws significant attention due to his celebrity status.

    During an interview on the Zero Conditions Podcast, the rapper acknowledged that his fame makes it challenging to be an active father. As a result, his wife usually takes their children to most activities. In a humorous vein, he emphasized that he doesn’t want his children to resent him in the future, so he does his best to participate in their lives discreetly, avoiding being noticed.

    He began, “My children could come and be like ‘Daddy I have to go to training tomorrow so who’s going to take me, is it mummy?’, So there’s some sort of mini competition going on because it’s their mum that takes them to Christmas this and that and it’s their mum that takes them everywhere. I’m not really actively participating because people know who I am so I can’t take my kids to get ice cream because people will know me.”

    The actor has shifted his focus to prioritize fatherhood and being actively involved in his children’s lives. He has made a conscious choice to avoid unnecessary outings and only go where it is required. Reminisce underscored his understanding of the significance of being present for his children, and this has led to a shift in his priorities towards them.

    “So there’s some sort of unspoken competition, so it won’t be like I’m not participating, so they won’t sew thread when they grow up. When you have kids, you want to be part of their lives, so you’d have to actively participate, and that’s the most important. Especially girl children, their fathers usually have a huge influence on them. Their relationship with their father usually dictates the kind of men they’d end up with, so I need to be more involved,” he added.

    Reminisce has enjoyed a successful marriage for more than 15 years and shares two children with his wife.
