Songs from Late AKA we won’t forget so soon.
Mp4bullet.ng presents memorable songs from the late South African rapper, AKA that will always remind us of his impact on the African music scene.
While AKA was one of the most controversial figures in South African entertainment, his brilliance as a musician was unquestionable.
The Supa Mega has produced an extraordinary amount of work over the past fifteen years that is largely recognised as the most impressive catalogue in the history of SA hip-hop.
The 35-year-old delivered us several bangers, from his early years of aggressive rapping to his later years of dabbling more in pop rap.
So what better way to remember him than to revisit some of his biggest and most memorable hits.

Composure
AKA never backed away from beef throughout his career. In fact, he frequently gave the impression that he enjoyed it and drew energy from squabbling with his competitors.
AKA released “Composure” in 2015, at the prime of his professional career.
The song immediately became popular with listeners across the nation after it was released.
AKA viciously poked fun at longtime foe Cassper Nyovest and ex-collaborator Anatii in “Composure.” The song is still a crowd-pleaser when it plays in the club; it is a timeless classic.
All Eyes on Me
“All Eyes on Me” dominated the summer of 2014 in a way we had never seen before.
At one point, this anthem was a must for attending any social function, party, braai, or other gatherings.
The mood was so upbeat, joyous, and contagious. The video, which had a house party concept and featured multiple celebrity cameos, was a perfect fit for the atmosphere.
The song was also one of the few to highlight the musical chemistry between AKA and Burna Boy, which was regrettably short-lived owing to an internet argument.
The World Is Yours
AKA’s 2016 release of “The World Is Yours” came at a time when he was in dire need of a smash song.
Earlier in the year, with his single “One Time,” he took a major risk by departing from a tried-and-true formula.
That did not turn out well, and many people believed it to be the end of an era. But AKA swiftly put an end to that with what was perhaps the best single of his career at the time.
We will always remember the legendary sample from Boom Clap Bachelors’ “Lobster Stop Sta,” along with AKA’s shoulder roll.
Run Jozi
AKA collaborates with Cashtime Tsotsi For Life, KO, who is also a member of Teargas, on this tune.
The delivery of the opening verse of “Run Jozi” is similar to that of Migos’ own song “Versace,” which became popular after a collaboration in a remix with Drake.
On the surface, the song appears to be a carbon copy of the Migos hit or a clear case of plagiarism. However, at a deeper level, the flow is simply a sensation of purposeful imitation.
AKA skillfully delivers the precise lyric from Drake’s “Started From the Bottom” within the Migos flow, alluding to it as he continues to rise to the top and engage in what he perceives to be a REAL struggle for relevancy.
AKA raps primarily about his accomplishments and pride in them, whereas Migos raps about flashing the bling and utilising it as a trophy to access life’s fortunes.
Neither has a political discourse, nor does it genuinely convey a message, but rather demonstrates a solid sense of rhyming skill.
Because the song is called “Run Jozi,” with Jozi being slang for Johannesburg, AKA and KO use a lot of braggadocios, punchlines, and social satire to present a bird’s-eye view of what Jozi truly is.
Jika
In 2018, AKA released his third studio album, “Touch My Blood” which is one of his commercially successful albums and carried hits that helped highlights his strong points.
“Jika” one of the songs off the 16-track project is more of a love pop song which features Yanga and

Fela In Versace
When “Touch My Blood” was released, “Fela in Versace” was not immediately promoted as the album’s lead single. Instead, during the album’s rollout, “Fully In” was heavily marketed
However, within days of its release, “Fela In Versace” had become a clear fan favourite, and AKA was compelled to make it the priority release.
It certainly paid off.
“Fela In Versace” became one of the biggest songs of 2018 and was certified multi-platinum.
Lemons (Lemonade)
AKA’s interest in complex rhyme systems and punchy lyrics waned as his popularity developed.
He purposefully began listening to music that was more jovial and vibrant.
One such instance was his most recent number-one single, “Lemons (Lemonade)“. Over a lavish beat he co-produced, the Supa Mega cosily raps and sings on the track.
It has an easygoing air of coolness and ease, fitting for a summer hymn.
