Rema’s Song Listed on Barack Obama Summer Playlist 2024
Nigerian Afropop sensation Rema has solidified his place among the world’s most celebrated musicians, with his hit song “Yayo” earning a spot on former President Barack Obama’s eagerly awaited summer playlist.
Obama, known for his tradition of sharing his favorite tracks each summer, has once again highlighted Nigerian talent on his 2024 list. Rema, who has consistently appeared on the former president’s playlists over the years, continues this trend with “Yayo,” a standout track from his latest album “HEIS.”
In past years, Nigerian artists like Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Tems, and Pheelz have also been featured on Obama’s playlists. This year, “Yayo” by Rema is among the songs Obama has been enjoying, cementing Rema’s status as a global star.
Announcing the playlist on his X handle, Obama shared, “With summer winding down, I wanted to share some songs that I’ve been listening to lately – and it wouldn’t be my playlist if it didn’t include an eclectic mix. I hope you find something new to listen to!”
In addition to Rema’s “Yayo,” Obama’s playlist includes tracks like Charli XCX’s “365,” Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em,” Tommy Richman’s “Million Dollar Baby,” Glorilla & Megan Thee Stallion’s “Wanna Be,” Billie Eilish’s “CHIHIRO,” and classics like 2Pac’s “How Do U Want It” featuring K-Ci & JoJo, and Bob Dylan’s “Silvio.”
