By selling more than 50,000 units, Rema’s Raves & Roses became the first African album to be certified Gold in France.

The artist’s debut album has received millions of streams and has won him the international attention he so richly deserves.

In the meantime, Rema has released a statement expressing his unwavering commitment to both the music industry and his craft and the sacrifices he has put in to make it work.

The “Calm Down” singer discussed his experience in the music industry on his Instagram story on Sunday night. He also expressed how hard he works to keep up his reputation as one of Africa’s most promising musicians.

“God knows how hard I go for the culture.

“So much sweat & blood I put in. The only place I sleep mostly is airplanes & it’s not often I get to see my family,” Rema stated.

He revealed that since the release of his first EP, he has never taken a vacation, and his label recognizes his tireless efforts and hustle.

The artist also spoke about his motivation, emphasizing that he is driven by impact and not just streams and popularity.
