Rema’s “Calm Down Remix,” featuring Selena Gomez, has reached a historic milestone: it is the first Afrobeats song to reach 1 billion views on YouTube.

This achievement marks it as the first Nigerian track to surpass the billion-view mark, underscoring the global influence of Afrobeats. Uploaded on Gomez’s YouTube channel two years ago, the video set the record as the fastest African song to reach this milestone.

Meanwhile, Rema’s original version of “Calm Down” has garnered over 619 million views, contributing to the song’s overall impact.

Selena Gomez, who collaborated with Rema on this global hit, expressed her appreciation for the project, saying the song “changed her life forever.”

Their collaboration connected diverse fan bases, expanding the song’s reach and appeal worldwide.

The original version of ‘Calm Down’ also earned a Guinness World Record title as the first number-one song on the MENA region’s official streaming chart.
