Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ goes double diamond certification in France.
Talented singer Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, achieved another significant milestone in France when his hit song “Calm Down” receives a double diamond certification.
Since more listeners are embracing Nigerian music, afrobeats songs are winning more international certifications. While the worldwide blockbuster hit moves into the double diamond stage, Rema’s “Calm Down” is dominating in France.
Released in February 2022 as the lead single off his self-titled debut album. One of Afrobeats’ most popular worldwide exports is the remix, which includes American pop diva Selena Gomez.
The record has already received a diamond certification from SNEP, France’s national music certification body. With over 500,000 sales, the song has officially earned the status of double diamond.
‘Calm Down‘ is also certified in Switzerland, Italy, and the United Kingdom. It has also acquired an RIAA platinum plaque, making it one of the best-selling Afrobeats tracks in the United States.
At a peak position of No. 8, “Calm Down” presently holds the record for the highest-charting African song on the Billboard Hot 100, surpassing Wizkid’s “Essence” remix featuring Tems & Justin Bieber, which reached No. 9.
With over 427 million views, the music video is the most-watched Afrobeats music video on YouTube. Both the remix and the original have received over 2 billion streams across all platforms.
