“Calm Down” by Rema hits Gold Certification in the United States
Rema, a leading Afrobeats performer from Nigeria, has now joined the elite group of Nigerian musicians who have received Gold certification in the United States.
Rema’s “Calm Down” won a Gold certification from the RIAA on Thursday, December 1, 2022, after selling more than 500,000 copies in the US.
Mavin Records made the announcement on Twitter writing;
“Rema’s CALM DOWN is now certified Gold in the United Sates ???????? for sale of 500k+ units ????”

The single was released as one of the lead singles from Rema’s debut album ‘Raves and Roses’ on February 10th, 2022, and it received a positive response.
A Selena Gomez remix of “Calm Down” eventually came out, further boosting the song’s popularity worldwide and landing it on the Billboard Hot 100.

‘Calm Down‘ has surpassed a billion streams across all platforms. The international hit single is the second most streamed music video on YouTube Nigeria in 2022 and the 9th most streamed song on Spotify Nigeria in 2022
With ‘Calm Down‘ earning an RIAA Gold certification, Rema joins Davido, Burna Boy, Wizkid, CKay, and Tems as Nigerian artists with certifications in the United States.
Meanwhile, Rema has enjoyed a lot of success, especially this year and isn’t keeping shut about it as he recently shut down the O2 Ritz Manchester.
The singer took to social media to share his recent achievements while sharing pictures and videos from his recent event in Manchester.
In his post, he revealed that he has sold out every show in the UK, and his album attained over a billion streams in 8 months (the first Nigerian debut album to do so).
He also stated that with the addition of certifications added to his collection thanks to his hit song, “Calm Down“, he can no longer count his plaques.
Continuing, he stated that his crew were enjoying a result of his successes and he was even able to steal people’s girlfriends.
