IMPRESSIVE!! Rema set new record & breaks Big Wiz’s record on Billboard Hot 100.
Nigerian sensational musician Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has continued his phenomenal run on the charts by breaking a Billboard Hot 100 record set by Afrobeats superstar Wizkid.
The Mavin/Jonzing World signee now claims the record of a Nigerian act’s top charting song on the Billboard Hot 100.
Big Wiz, previously held the record for the highest-ranking Nigerian song on the Billboard Hot 100 when his hit single “Essence,” which featured Tems and Justin Bieber, climbed at No. 9 on the chart.
The official billboard chart Twitter account announced on March 21st, 2023, that Rema, has surpassed Wizkid’s record on a chart dated March 25th, 2023.

The singer’s global smash “Calm Down,” which features Selena Gomez, peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it the highest-charting Nigerian song to date.
It surpassed Wizkid’s ‘Essence‘ (with Tems and Justin Bieber), which peaked at 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2021, as the highest charting Nigerian/African song of all time.
