Rema drags Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records for using him for fake PR
In a recent series of rants on his page, Afrobeat artist Rema has publicly criticized his record label, Mavin Records, accusing them of engaging in what he considers to be “fake” PR tactics.
Shortly after Mavin Records posted on their Twitter page, announcing Rema’s involvement in a new project, Rema himself retweeted the announcement. However, instead of showing appreciation, he expressed surprise and dissatisfaction with his label’s claim that he was working on a new song. He questioned the announcement, stating, “SMH, tf is this?”
“Labels get creative, stop trying to clone me.”
As anticipation builds for Rema’s upcoming project, the Mavin Records artist has ignited a significant debate among fans on social media. Taking to his platform X (formerly Twitter), the multi-award-winning singer addressed the ongoing discussions surrounding Nigeria’s top artists, often referred to as the “Big 3.”
In a recent post on Saturday, April 27, 2024, Rema shared his thoughts by simply stating, “No more big 3 there’s now a big 4.” This sparked a flurry of reactions from fans, who speculated on the four artists Rema might be alluding to with his statement.
Additionally, fans were thrilled by the singer’s studio pictures, hinting at a possible forthcoming project.
In addition, Rema taken a firm stance in the ongoing debate surrounding Afrobeats and its prominent figures in the country.
The American Music Awards-winning singer reiterated his support for the Afrobeats genre on his social media platform, emphasizing its global significance.
In a recent post, Rema expressed his belief that Afrobeats surpasses any other Afro sounds mentioned by fellow Nigerian artists. This reaffirmation of his stance follows his previous statements advocating for Afrobeats on an international scale.
