Rema opens up about losing the Best Global Music Album category at 2025 Grammys

Renowned Nigerian music star Divine Ikubor, widely known as Rema, has broken his silence on missing out on the Best Global Music Album award at the 66th Grammy Awards.
The prestigious event, held in 2025, saw his album HEIS nominated in the highly competitive category but ultimately losing to Matt B and the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Despite the outcome, the Calm Down crooner remains upbeat. In an exclusive chat with Rolling Stone, Rema revealed that he took the moment in stride, focusing on celebrating other winners rather than dwelling on his own loss.
“I was just taking every moment in, I was celebrating people walking up that stage. I had my fingers crossed that I’d walk up the stage too, and when it didn’t happen… it happens. It’s not the first award that I got nominated for and didn’t get,” he stated.
The Grammy Awards proved to be a challenging night for Nigerian stars, as heavyweights like Davido, Burna Boy, and Asake also missed out on wins in their respective categories.
However, there was a silver lining for Nigeria, as Tems clinched the Best Melodic Rap Performance award for her contribution to Future’s Wait For U, marking her second Grammy victory.
While the Grammy disappointment may have been a temporary setback, Rema’s unwavering confidence signals that his journey to global domination is far from over. With his talent and determination, fans believe it is only a matter of time before he ascends the Grammy stage to claim his own trophy.
