Rema recently shared the story of how Drake entered his DMs in 2020.

Rema, who wrote the song “Calm Down,” has now explained how he came to collaborate with Drake on a song.

This is revealed by the superstar in one of his most recent interviews. In his own words, he believed that the account that slipped into his DMs on “that day” in 2020 was a false one pretending to be Drake.

‘I felt really amazed when Drake reached out in 2020. I thought it was a fake account’, Rema says.

He adds that it was his friends who convinced him to look at the verification badge on the account. It was then he realized that it was really the Canadian superstar Drake in his DMs!

Rema then reveals that he was linked up with Drake’s producer and he sent his verse back to them.

On what Drake told him, Rema reveals, ‘He told me he loves what I’m doing for Afrobeats with my sound’.

The title of the song they made is ‘Mention Me’. The unfinished version of the song has been leaked online.

In another interview, Rema recalled how, at the age of 17, he bought his mother a car.

The singer of “Calm Down” revealed this in an interview when talking about his upbringing and difficulties.

Rema said that his family suffered from severe poverty and was unable to afford to pay for food, power, or other essentials.

He stated that he was saddened by the disgrace his mother was experiencing and that he did not feel secure sitting idle and doing nothing.
