Rema ‘Rave & Roses’ ULTRA hit new milestone on streaming platform few hours after it was released.
Few hours after the release of his debut album “Rave & Roses ULTRA,” Nigerian Afrobeat superstar Divine Ikubor, also known as Rema, set a new record on the Spotify music streaming platform.
Nigerian superstars are driving the export of African music to a global audience, and their genre, Afrobeats, is swiftly overtaking all others as the most popular in the world. Rema is the most recent musician to have dominated the streaming platform with his project.
Rema, a 22-year-old Nigerian musician, achieved a new milestone when his first album ‘Rave & Roses ULTRA‘ became the first African album to hit 1 billion streams on Spotify.
The musician, who was born in Benin City, presently holds the title for the most played African album on Spotify, with over one billion listens, thanks to the release of ‘Rave & Roses’ ULTRA.
On Friday (April 28), Rema smashed Spotify records when he launched the deluxe edition of his debut album titled ‘Rave & Roses ULTRA‘. The edition included three previously released songs (‘Calm Down remix,’ ‘Holiday,’ and ‘Reason You‘) as well as three new songs (‘Charm,’ ‘Hov,’ and ‘Dunno Me’).
The album, which received more than 500 million Spotify streams prior to the deluxe edition, reached 1 billion streams with the release of “Rave and Roses” ULTRA, which was a first for the Afrobeats genre.
The Mavin Prince now holds the record for Spotify’s most-streamed African album of all time with over one billion listens.
