Rema revealed that he grew up too fast and was forced to sell his childhood to provide for his family after losing his father and brother. He expressed his desire to feel like a child again and be a rebel, feeling free and breaking some rules.
This led him to pick up vices like smoking cigarettes, for which he is being judged due to his public persona.
The Afrobeats superstar, whose sophomore album ‘HEIS‘ is still gaining waves, spoke about how his strict schedule from an early age took a toll on his spirit.
He said: “i really wanted to feel like a child again; it’s been something that literally tore out my spirit. ’cause I feel like I grew up too fast. Life switched up on me crazy.
