The Recording Academy Confirm Grammy Award Plans For Afrobeats
The Recording Academy has hinted at big and unexpected plans for Afrobeat at the Grammy Awards.
According to the Recording Academy, there are currently discussions about adding an Afrobeats category to the Grammys. Harvey Manson Jr., the CEO of the Recording Academy, confirmed this to Ghanaian media.
In order for the academy to decide to create a category for Afrobeats, a proposal must be submitted. This is what is currently being worked on to ensure an accurate representation of the various hues and styles the Afrobeats sound possesses.
