Real Madrid set to finalise Jude Bellingham transfer.
According to reports, Real Madrid are closing in on a transfer for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, with the deal described as “almost closed”.
Marca, a Spanish news site, reports that Madrid and the 19-year-old, who will sign a six-year contract with the club, appear to have reached an agreement in principle following months of secret negotiations.
Last week, it was made public that Los Blancos had sent representatives to Germany to complete a deal after Liverpool withdrew and it narrowed to a two-horse race with English powerhouse Manchester City.
Dortmund apparently received sizable bids from both Premier League teams, but considering Madrid’s success in previous Champions League tournaments, it is believed that the English international chose to join with them.
In addition to the club’s important sporting endeavour, Bellingham is also known to favour their emphasis on developing young players, especially when it comes to transfer targets.
In this regard, the capital club moved quickly as they did for previous young midfield acquisitions Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga. Madrid’s ability to tie down a deal early looks to have proven successful once again.
It is anticipated that they would attempt to negotiate down Dortmund’s asking price for Bellingham from €140 million (£123.7 million/$154.5 million) to between €100 (£88.3 million/$110.4 million) and €120 (£106.0 million/$132. million), which Marca believes is unlikely to provide a significant roadblock in discussions.
Bellingham and Dortmund will wait until the end of the season before the transfer is fully completed and he is formally introduced as a Real Madrid player. Bellingham has 11 goals and seven assists this season, and his team is only one point behind Bayern in the fight for the Bundesliga crown.
