The United States immigration has arrested popular rapper, 21 Savage for overstaying his visa.
The Atlanta rapper, with birth name Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, is known for talking about Atlanta as a dangerous place to grow up in.
The ‘Who Run it Freestyle‘ rapper had said, during interviews, that he was born in Atlanta.
However, investigations have proved that the rapper featured in Post Malone‘s ‘Rockstar’ and Lil Pump‘s ‘Gucci Gang Remix‘ is actually from Brixton, London.
Reports from the US immigration says he arrived in America in July 2005 at the age of 12 and has been staying in the country beyond the permitted period of time on his visa
“Mr. Abraham-Joseph is presently in ICE custody in Georgia and has been placed into removal proceedings before the federal immigration courts.
“ICE will now await the outcome of his case before a federal immigration judge to determine future actions,” ICE said in a statement.
According to ICE, the 26-year-old rapper’s “whole public persona is false”.
His lawyer, Dina LaPolt, said: “We are working diligently to get Mr. Abraham-Joseph out of detention while we work with the authorities to clear up any misunderstandings.
“Mr. Abraham-Joseph is a role model to the young people in this country, especially in Atlanta, Georgia, and is actively working in the community leading programs to help underprivileged youths in financial literacy.”
