President Nasser Al-Khelaifi and new PSG manager Luis Enrique have taken a strong position on the Kylian Mbappe contract dispute.
President Nasser Al-Khelaifi is sure that Kylian Mbappe won’t be allowed to leave for free, and new Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique wants him to stay this summer.
Despite his claim that he does not want to leave this summer amid interest from Real Madrid, Mbappe has entered the final year of his contract with the French champions and has notified the club that he does not intend to renew it.
According to reports, PSG has informed him that failing to sign a contract extension before the end of July will result in his sale. But according to the new manager, he wants to have “the best possible squad” at his disposal.
“When I signed, we always remain open. A lot of things can happen,” Luis Enrique said when asked about Mbappe’s future in a press conference. “I will keep it private as it’s professional secrecy. I cannot give confidences but we will try to make the best possible squad for PSG.”
Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of PSG, also reaffirmed the club’s position, stating that they have no interest in losing Mbappe for nothing the following season and that he needs to sign a new deal if he wants to stay.
He said: “Our position is very clear. If Kylian Mbappé wants to stay, we want him to stay. But we can’t let one of the best players in the world leave on a free.”
As they prepare for the upcoming season under their new manager, the Ligue 1 team will wait for the France star to make a choice.
