“Because you purchased Nando’s and lights?” DJ Maphorisa’s claim to song ownership is criticized by Prince Kaybee.
In a recent Instagram Live session, Prince Kaybee criticizes DJ Maphorisa’s assertion that he owns the masters of songs recorded in his studio.
DJ Maphorisa sparked controversy by declaring that any song created with his tools or in his space belongs to him, a statement that garnered attention and support from many, including Nota Baloyi. However, Kaybee, known for his differences with Maphorisa, contested this notion.
Kaybee emphasized the importance of intellectual property (IP) sharing in creative collaborations, arguing against the idea of sole ownership based solely on studio resources.
Addressing a Twitter user’s reference to the TNS saga, Kaybee asserted his stance, stating that TNS could not validate similar accusations and owns his work independently.
“Growing up I’ve changed my beliefs. I now believe in working together on creative projects is about the IP sharing. So, someone must write a song, produce a beat and craft it and you own everything cause you bought Nando’s and lights?” DJ Prince tweeted.
“Mara music business yall are just screwing each other i mean TNS accused u of the similiar thing,” tweep wrote.
