Portable offers Headies organisers its apologies, encourages fans to keep voting
The Headies award show’s organisers have received an apology from Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable.
This followed after the ‘Zazoo’ crooner tackles the organisers for disqualifying him as one of the nominees of the award show over an alleged death threat.
Recall that on May 24, Portable received a nomination for Best Street Artist and Rookie of the Year at the Headies Awards.
The Nigeria Music Award publicly announced that they have disqualified the musician following his admission to being the leader of the lethal cult known as One Million Boys.
In response to the disqualification, Portable posted a message on his Instagram page. He made it clear that he had no regrets about what he had done.
However, going by his recent post, he seems to have made a u-turn about his stance on the issue.
Yesterday, July 27, he shared a video apologizing to the organizers as he urged his fans to continue voting.
Social media users expressed their thoughts as they took to his comment section.

In other news, Media personality, Joey Akan took the time to send out a series of tweets addressing the show’s organisers and the speed with which the moral hammer fell on the Zazu crooner.
Akan claims that although the decision by the Headies to revoke Portable’s nomination seems to be a popular one, it establishes a precedent.
He went on to say that the Headies Awards criteria have never specified that having good character away from the microphone is a criterion.
Akan emphasised that the hammer must strike fairly if people are no longer able to distinguish between the artist and the work of art.
This led him to ask if other people on the nomination list are of good character worthy of remaining on it.
