‘My life was good when you’re not with me’: Portable calls out his father over alleged theft, extortion
Controversial Nigerian street-pop singer Portable, born Habeeb Okikiola, has once again stirred public attention after making serious allegations against his father in a video shared on Instagram on January 6, 2026.
In the emotionally charged clip, the singer accused his father of taking his personal belongings, including shoes and clothes, and attempting to exert control over his properties. He also alleged that his father went as far as contacting his baby mamas without his knowledge, repeatedly demanding money from them.
Speaking angrily in a mix of Yoruba and Pidgin English, Portable questioned his father’s place in his life, expressing deep frustration over what he described as years of neglect. According to the singer, this pattern did not change even after he achieved success.
He lamented that his father was absent during his legal troubles and offered no support toward his education or early investments.
Portable insisted that his rise in music and the wealth he now enjoys were achieved solely through his own efforts, long before fame came calling.
He further accused his father of financial misconduct related to building projects, claiming that whenever he entrusted him with supervising construction, inflated bills were presented.
Taking his grievances further, the singer drew comparisons with the late Afrobeats star Mohbad’s family situation, referencing the controversies that surrounded Mohbad’s estate in 2023. Portable stated firmly that he would not allow a similar scenario play out in his own life, declaring that his father would never inherit from him.
He concluded the video with a stern warning, demanding that his father stay away from him and his affairs. According to Portable, he has reached his limit and will no longer tolerate what he described as manipulation and exploitation.
The outburst has added yet another chapter to Portable’s long-running family drama, sparking widespread reactions online as fans and observers continue to debate the troubled relationship.
