Portable disclaims Baddo’s role in his rise to fame
Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has stirred debate with his recent remarks claiming he achieved stardom on his own and downplaying the impact of Olamide’s contribution to his career.
Portable shot to fame in 2021 after Olamide featured on his breakout hit Zazoo Zeh. However, during a video chat with comedian Ijoba Lande, Portable minimized Olamide’s involvement, stating: “Olamide only did one verse on Zazoo Zeh and didn’t promote my other songs on social media. My fame started before meeting him, and I don’t rely on Zazoo Zeh to survive.”
The comments have ignited intense discussions online, with fans and critics questioning Portable’s motives for seemingly downplaying Olamide’s influence.
Many argue that Olamide’s collaboration gave Portable the national and international spotlight he enjoys today, while others believe Portable’s unfiltered persona and relentless self-promotion have also played a significant role in his rise.
Olamide has not publicly responded to Portable’s claims. Meanwhile, the debate underscores the complex dynamics of mentorship and recognition in the music industry, with some highlighting the importance of humility and gratitude.
Portable, known for his controversial antics, continues to generate headlines with his outspoken nature, keeping his name in the spotlight even as his statements divide opinions.
