Mohbad: You’re manipulator, stop deceiving Nigerians – Portable slams Verydarkman
Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has aimed at social media activist Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan (VDM), accusing him of manipulating public sentiment and exploiting the tragic death of singer Mohbad for clout.
In a heated video shared online, Portable labelled the outspoken activist a “manipulator” and warned him to stop misleading Nigerians. He particularly criticised VDM’s recent attacks on Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, suggesting that such actions were undermining the credibility of the Justice for Mohbad movement.
“VeryDarkMan, you came out deceiving Nigerians that you want justice for Mohbad. You’re a manipulator. Now, you’re dragging Iyabo Ojo. What’s really her offense?”
“You claimed you want justice for Mohbad, so why are you now going against Mohbad? Leave Mohbad and let him rest in peace. Why are you dragging the dead? You are the one who first alleged that Mohbad was killed by some certain people, and you’re now making a U-turn,”
Portable stated.
The Zazuu Zeh crooner expressed disappointment that VDM, who once drew public sympathy for his vocal demands for accountability over Mohbad’s controversial death, now appears to be shifting blame and stirring confusion.
“Are you the one who will tell Nigerians who is good or not? We know people who are good people. We also know the people who bullied Mohbad. Stop deceiving Nigerians,”
he added.

Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, passed away in September 2023 under controversial circumstances that sparked nationwide outrage and demands for justice. The case remains a sensitive subject, and Portable’s latest comments reflect growing tension around the conduct of online influencers and public commentators involved in the campaign.
As debates continue around Mohbad’s legacy and the ongoing search for truth, Portable’s outburst underscores concerns about sensationalism, misinformation, and the politicization of grief in Nigeria’s digital space.
