Portable returned to jail after failing to post bail.
Habeeb Okikiola also referred to as Portable, has been returned to the Nigerian Correctional Facility in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State after being unable to post bail.
The Zazu singer was given bail for all three of the charges against him in the amount of N800,000. He also had two sureties posted bail in the same amount.
The two sureties, who must reside within the Ifo court’s jurisdiction, must also be landowners, according to a decision made by Magistrate A.S. Soneye.
It was also stated that the bail requirement be satisfied before the defendant left the courthouse
Nevertheless, less than an hour after the court had risen, authorities from the correctional facility brought out Portable and put him in a prisoner truck that was going to Ilaro.
There are reports that the musician has not yet perfected his bail requirements.
According to an earlier report from Mp3bullet.ng, Portable was charged with three counts of assault and theft of musical instruments by the Ogun State Police Command.
Recall that CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, had stated that Portable would be charged with more than six offences relating to suspected assault and his inciting remarks against the police.
The singer’s troubles with the law allegedly began last week when he claimed in an Instagram Live video that police had attacked his restaurant in Sango Ota at the behest of an online fraudster.
In response to the video, which has since gone viral and caused some online controversy, the musician was invited to the Ogun State Police Command’s headquarters.
Nonetheless, Portable decided to disregard the police’s repeated invitations, stating that they were unnecessary because he earns his money “legitimately.”
The 29-year-old also claimed that he was “a federal government liability”.
