Portable Defends Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy Amid Criticism from VeryDarkMan

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has spoken out in defense of Afrobeats stars Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy following criticism from social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM).
VDM, real name Vincent Martins Otse, sparked backlash after accusing the music icons of flaunting luxury cars—including Burna Boy’s ₦3.2 billion McLaren, while allegedly neglecting the needs of ordinary Nigerians. He claimed the trio failed to use their wealth for meaningful societal impact.
In a fiery response shared via social media, Portable slammed VDM’s remarks, questioning his credibility and highlighting charitable acts by the artists. He revealed that Burna Boy gifted him ₦20 million, and praised Davido for his past public donations to orphanages.
Portable further challenged VDM to account for funds reportedly received by his NGO, including a ₦100 million donation allegedly from Don Jazzy, asking for proof of any completed community projects such as schools or housing.
He described VDM’s outburst as hypocritical, stating, “People should be free to spend their money as they wish. No matter how much you give, it will never be enough for some people.”
Ending his message, Portable warned VDM to stop targeting respected artists, urging him to focus on more constructive causes instead of stirring controversy.
