Nigerian singer Portable has addressed the controversy surrounding his altercation with a preacher outside his bar in Sango, Ogun State, which occurred on September 9, 2024. Portable took to Instagram on September 16, 2024, to explain his actions, claiming that he acted out of suspicion due to a previous incident involving his sister.

According to the Zazu hitmaker, weeks before the altercation, a person posing as a pastor had attacked his sister, which led him to believe the preacher outside his bar might be part of a similar setup. He stated, “He was not a man of God… The way he acted was why I slapped him,” while also apologizing for his actions.

The incident, captured on Instagram Live, showed Portable confronting and slapping the preacher, alleging that the preacher was disturbing his customers and affecting his business.

Despite this explanation, the singer has faced widespread backlash on social media, with many condemning his behavior as disrespectful and unacceptable.

In his apology, Portable acknowledged his mistakes and imperfections, stating, “I’m a human being and I’m not perfect.” While the singer has apologized, the situation has sparked conversations about the preacher’s intentions and the overall circumstances of the altercation.
