Portable meets Peter Obi, praises leadership vision, laments no cash reward
Nigerian street-pop artist Portable shared his experience meeting Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, at a private event.
Portable expressed admiration for Obi, praising his leadership and dedication to the Nigerian people. He described Obi as “a great man” and “a man of the people,” highlighting his vision for taking Nigeria to the next level.
However, in true Portable fashion, the singer humorously lamented in a follow-up video that he didn’t receive any cash rewards from Obi, jokingly comparing him to President Bola Tinubu, known for his generous political spending.
The encounter has drawn attention on social media, with fans noting Portable’s trademark mix of sincerity and humor. Despite his playful remarks, Portable’s respect for Peter Obi’s leadership remains evident, emphasizing his appreciation for Obi’s commitment to the country’s progress.

In a recent interview on “Echo Room,” controversial street-pop artist Portable opened up about the breakdown of his relationship with Afrobeats superstar Davido.
Portable revealed that during his tour of America, he met with Davido in Atlanta, but at a significant cost. The singer shared that he had to turn down a show worth $6,000 to spend time with the Grammy winner, who had promised him a verse on a song, only to later change his mind.
Reflecting on the situation, Portable expressed frustration, stating in pidgin English, “Who go bless you no go stress you,” lamenting how Davido reneged on his promise. Portable hinted that Zlatan, another Afrobeats star, played a role in the fallout, revealing that while hanging out with Davido, Zlatan cautioned the Grammy nominee to be careful about associating with him.
