Portable says he turned down a $6K show to hangout with Davido
In a recent interview on “Echo Room,” controversial street-pop artist Portable opened up about the breakdown of his relationship with Afrobeats superstar Davido.
Portable revealed that during his tour of America, he met with Davido in Atlanta, but at a significant cost. The singer shared that he had to turn down a show worth $6,000 to spend time with the Grammy winner, who had promised him a verse on a song, only to later change his mind.
Reflecting on the situation, Portable expressed frustration, stating in pidgin English, “Who go bless you no go stress you,” lamenting how Davido reneged on his promise. Portable hinted that Zlatan, another Afrobeats star, played a role in the fallout, revealing that while hanging out with Davido, Zlatan cautioned the Grammy nominee to be careful about associating with him.
Portable also shared that he was in the U.S. seeking a foreign artist to collaborate with when he received the call from Davido, leading to their meet-up.
However, after a series of social media rants where Portable accused Zlatan of sabotaging his relationship with Davido, he later issued an apology to Zlatan in hopes of mending their broken ties.
Zlatan is not the only public figure Portable has had issues with this year. Earlier in 2024, he had a highly publicized dispute with socialite Bobrisky and recently reconciled with musician Goya Menor after their falling-out over the 2022 Headies Best Street Pop Award.
Despite the controversies, Portable has continued to release new music, including his latest single, “Oriade,” which he performed during his *Echo Room* interview.
