Portable publicly apologizes to Fuji Icon Saheed Osupa after online backlash

Nigerian street-hop sensation Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, better known as Portable, has extended a public apology to Fuji music veteran King Saheed Osupa, days after launching a verbal tirade against him.
The controversy erupted on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, when Portable shared a video online in which he insulted the 55-year-old Fuji legend, questioning his relevance in the industry. His remarks drew widespread criticism, with many condemning the Zazu crooner for disrespecting a seasoned artist.
Amid mounting pressure from fans and industry figures, Portable took to Instagram to express regret over his actions.
He attributed his outburst to a financial dispute, explaining that he was upset upon learning that one of his songs was at risk of being removed from streaming platforms, potentially affecting his income.
In his apology video, the Zeh Nation boss appealed to Saheed Osupa for forgiveness, referring to him as a father figure. However, he also hinted that the controversy had indirectly benefited both their careers by amplifying their visibility.
“King Saheed Osupa, my father, please don’t be angry. Money issues caused this fight, I only reacted because I wanted to make money from my music. Take me like a child to train, and I won’t disappoint you. We are both promoting each other—music is my livelihood. Please help me beg him, my fans. It’s all promotion,” he said.
Reactions to Portable’s apology have been mixed, with some praising his willingness to make amends while others remain skeptical about the sincerity of his words.
All eyes are now on Saheed Osupa to see whether he will acknowledge or accept the peace offering.
