Portable raises alarm after alleged attack during Ikorodu performance

Controversial Nigerian street-hop artist Habeeb Okikiola, widely known by his stage name Portable, has raised alarm over an alleged attempt on his life during a live performance in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The Zazoo Zeh crooner, in a video now trending across social media platforms, claimed that he narrowly escaped a syringe attack while on stage.
Portable alleged that an unidentified man emerged from the crowd in what he described as an attempt to inject him with an unknown substance a move he likened to the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of the late singer, Mohbad.
“I went to perform in Ikorodu and they injected me. They want to kill me like they did to Mohbad,” Portable said in a video posted to his Instagram page, visibly distressed as he recounted the incident.
He claimed he struck the alleged assailant with his microphone in self-defense before the situation spiralled into chaos.
According to the singer, there was no physical altercation but the commotion that followed left him injured. “We didn’t fight at the show. It was just chaos. In the process of trying to embrace me, they hit my leg,” he added, displaying a visibly swollen leg.
Portable expressed suspicion that the attack may have been orchestrated by individuals intent on harming him or sabotaging his career.
The incident has since sparked concern among fans and members of the public, many of whom have taken to social media to call for increased security for artists at public events.
As of press time, there has been no official statement from law enforcement agencies or the event organisers concerning the alleged attack.
