The Rivers State Police Command has debunked the reports that Nigerian singer Teni was almost kidnapped during a show in the state.
A concert organized by Nigerian Hip-hop musician, Teniola Apata popularly known as Teni, at Buguma, Rivers State, was reportedly disrupted by gunmen.
In a video, which had now gone viral, Teni was seen on stage performing amid other artists when the shots were fired into the crowd.
Teni scrambled to get off stage as members of the audience scampered to safety.
According to eyewitnesses, the gunshots came from unknown gunmen who were trying to kidnap the singer.

However, according to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Iringe Grace Koko, the incident was not a kidnapping attempt.
According to Koko, some miscreants who had a dispute at the show’s venue created a scene that prompted security agents to fire firearms in an attempt to prevent mayhem.
She went on to say that the criminals had a “free for all time,” but that the security services intervened quickly and salvaged the situation.
The police announcement came after an ugly incident in the state’s Asari Toru Local Government Area.
