Relatedly, The American music publication Billboard has featured Nigerian afrobeat artist, Oyinkansola Sarah, also known as Ayra Starr, in its list of the 21 Under 21 artists for this year.
On the 2023 list, which was made public on Monday through the Billboard website, the 20-year-old was the lone musician from Africa.
She reached the top of the list with 138.2 million US on-demand streaming.
Afropop musician Ayra Starr signed a record deal with Mavin Records in 2021 as a result of the different covers she had shared on Instagram. Mavin Records is one of Nigeria’s most significant record companies.
