Some artists released my songs – Pheelz
Nigerian record producer and singer, Moses Kayode Phillips, popularly known as Pheelz, has disclosed that his passion for singing persisted even during his tenure as the in-house producer for YBNL.
According to Pheelz, some of the artists he was producing for at the time released songs that he had originally written for himself.
The ‘Finesse‘ crooner further revealed that his decision to transition into a full-time singer was solidified after he contracted COVID-19. He expressed a desire to “die empty,” indicating his determination to fully explore and express his musical talents.
Speaking in a recent interview with The Beat 99.9 FM, Lagos, Pheelz said, “Some of the artistes I produced for, released music I wrote for myself.
“COVID-19 happened and I had to really think about my life because I caught the virus and almost died.
“I was like, ‘I have to die empty if at all. You can’t have all these awesome stuff [talents] inside you and you’re afraid. Don’t care, just die empty’.”

Pheelz has revealed how a single tweet from Rema altered the course of his life. From his beginnings as a young music producer mentored by the legendary ID Cabasa, Pheelz embarked on a transformative journey to become one of Afrobeats’ most innovative minds.
In a recent interview with Moni Talks, Pheelz divulged his evolution from being under ID Cabasa’s guidance to establishing himself as a prominent Afrobeats hitmaker.
When questioned about the pivotal moment that propelled his career from producer to artist, Pheelz disclosed that it was during the COVID-19 pandemic that he decided to take the leap.
During this challenging period, Pheelz encountered a tweet from Rema that served as a catalyst for change. “Rema tweeted, ‘the world is on pause for you to catch up,’ and I felt that it resonated with me personally,” Pheelz shared, recounting the story for the first time.
