Why I didn’t try to settle Davido and Burna Boy’s beef – Peruzzi (Video)
Afropop singer Tobechukwu Victor Okoh, popularly known as Peruzzi, has shared insight into why he refrained from mediating in the feud between music stars Davido and Burna Boy.
Peruzzi explained that the bond between the “Odogwu” singer and “Omo Baba Olowo” runs deep, making the situation more complex than it appears, and thus, he chose not to intervene.
During an episode of the Zero Conditions podcast, co-hosted by Motolani Alake, Melody, and Excel, the “Gunshot” crooner clarified that his decision to stay out of the matter was rooted in both his seniority over the two artists and his inclination to avoid being a ‘Yes man’ to anyone.
Peruzzi expressed confidence that Davido and Burna Boy, being brothers, would eventually resolve their differences without external interference.
Peruzzi also disclosed in the interview that despite a collaboration issue on Burna Boy’s song “Pull Up,” he maintains a positive working relationship with the self-styled African Giant.
According to Peruzzi, he wrote “Pull Up” and was supposed to feature on it, but Burna Boy released the track without informing him. Despite this, he emphasized that there is no animosity between them, as such occurrences were deemed normal in the industry at the time.
Motolani asked, “Did any of the funny energy between him [Burna] and David affect you guys relationship?”
In response, Peruzzi said, “No, it never did. First of all I am older than both of them, ad I have never been a rubbish guy to anybody, I have never been a yes man. I will always yarn you how things…Because even when they were quarreling [chuckles].
I didn’t try to settle it because it was deeper than normal. You know they are brothers now. They will still settle don’t worry.”
