Wande Coal, according to Oxlade in a recent interview, was a major influence on his music and career.
During an interview with Beat FM, Oxlade stated that he will always be in awe of Wande Coal because of the impact he had on him as a person and his music. The interview aired on Thursday, August 19, 2021.
Nadine of Beat FM asked Oxlade if there is any artist who still makes him feel starstruck, and he immediately mentioned the veteran singer.
Wande Coal, he said, literally influenced his sound and how he patterned his music. Oxlade also dismisses any comparisons between himself and the legendary singer as “arrant nonsense.”

When Nadine asks Oxlade what he thinks of people who compare him to Wande Coal, he says;
I think it’s nonsense. I think it’s arrant nonsense, like what’s that? Sometimes, I’ll be on Twitter and people will just tweet some things, and I’ll be like these guys have started taking that thing again.
Wande is the reason I’m singing. “Mushin to Mo’Hits” is the reason I went to studio to record music. Falsetto, harmonies, melodies, and all that. Wande is clear o, please.
During his Beat FM interview, Oxlade not only discussed Wande Coal, but he also promoted his new single, Ojuju. He also talked about his recent trip to Paris and how he almost signed with M.I. Abaga.
