In a recent interview with The Beat FM in London, Omah Lay highlighted his commitment to pushing the boundaries of the genre, citing his latest single, ‘Holy Ghost,’ as a testament to the evolution in his sound.
The artist expressed his aspiration to bring a fresh perspective to Afrobeats and garner recognition for this musical innovation throughout the year.
Omah Lay also touched on the significance of Afrobeat in shaping the music landscape for Africans, showcasing his dedication to contributing to the genre’s ongoing growth and influence.
He said, “I feel like this is the time for African music and Africa. A lot more is going to happen in the future for music which I am very positive about. the world is just beginning to realize how beautiful Africa as a continent is. It’s going to go beyond that but for now, the music is just an introduction. It’s a win for the whole continent”.
When talking about the sound evolution of Africa he said, “I have started a new sound. I feel like the sound people identify as Afrobeats is going to change in 2024/2025, in the future. And I’m going to be one of the leaders of the new sound. I have started a new sound of afrobeats, and you’re going to hear more of that in 2024. ‘Holy Ghost’ is one of them. And I’m putting out an album. The album is going to consist of all of these new vibes”.
