Omah Lay hails Davido as ‘Legend’, announces upcoming collaboration
Nigerian singer Omah Lay has lavished praise on Davido, referring to him as a “legend” in the Afrobeats genre.
During an interview with The Baller Alert, Omah Lay shared his excitement about their upcoming collaboration, calling it a “perfect song” that captures their unique vibe.
“We have a song coming soon, and I’m really excited about it. The way we created the track was just amazing, and Davido is such a great person to work with,” Omah Lay said.
He also commended Davido’s significant role in elevating Afrobeats on the global stage, saying, “Davido is massive, he’s a true legend.”
This collaboration follows Omah Lay’s previous concerns about Davido’s feelings toward him, which he has since moved past.
Omah Lay also touched on the competitive nature of the Nigerian music industry, highlighting the respect artists have for one another while pushing for excellence.
The highly anticipated track comes ahead of Omah Lay’s sophomore album, which he had to recreate after the original concept was stolen. Fans are eagerly awaiting both the collaboration and the new album.

I love that I started a new movement and my music started something new that I didn’t have to come out and tell people that my music is ‘Afro-Depression.’ My fans made it up and I didn’t have to explain… It’s great to witness that I can just make music and the world can decide what it is, and it becomes a movement.”
