Omah Lay has shed more light on the creative choices behind his upcoming album, revealing that his fan-favourite track “Waist” will not be included.

Speaking via Apple Music Radio, the Afrobeats star explained that while Waist is deeply personal to him, it simply doesn’t align with the emotional direction of the album.

According to Omah Lay, the song was recorded in London and exists as a form of escape — something he listens to when he wants to relax, switch off, and stop overthinking.

Rather than being introspective, Waist lives in a different emotional space: ease, atmosphere, and feeling good in the moment.

The album, however, tells a heavier story.

Teasing what fans should expect from Clarity of Mind, Omah Lay hinted at a project rooted in reflection, emotional honesty, and mental clarity, warning listeners that they may not be fully prepared for what’s coming.

“You guys aren’t even ready,” he said, signalling a more vulnerable and intentional body of work than many anticipate.

The decision not to include Waist highlights Omah Lay’s growing artistic confidence, prioritising cohesion over convenience and emotional truth over fan pressure. Even with a beloved record, the singer is choosing to protect the integrity of the story he wants the album to tell.

With Clarity of Mind, it’s clear Omah Lay isn’t just chasing hits; he’s curating a feeling, a headspace, and a moment of honesty.
